Monsoon Essentials for Men

The rains have not started yet but it is always good to be prepared. Most of us do not pay attention to getting dressed during this season. Women have a range of accessories to choose from but men are limited to only a few options. Here are all the must have accessories for men. Do not leave your home without these monsoon special accessories.

A cool umbrella
A cool umbrella does not mean that boring black umbrellas. It is just so old school. Go for those stylish and smart coloured umbrella. It will make you stand apart from the crowd. Earlier it was a necessity. Of late, it is a fashion accessory too. There is a wide variety of umbrellas available out there. You can look for smart umbrellas online. No designs and prints allowed for men. Go for solid coloured umbrellas with a decent pattern.

A raincoat
If you do not like to carry an umbrella, you can go for a stylish raincoat. Men are not fond of carrying umbrellas around the city. If you think it’s not cool to carry one, you can go for a smart raincoat preferably with a thin fabric. A raincoat with thin fabric fits in your bag easily. Go for smart shades like grey, black and navy blue. Investing in a good quality raincoat is very important.

Floaters
Yes floaters and not flip flops. Flip flops are a big no-no. They make an irritating sound when they are wet. Go for a stylish pair of floaters this season. Put your leather shoes back in the wardrobe till the next season. Floaters provide grip and are extremely comfortable.

Watch
Most men hate to wear accessories when it’s raining outside. Not anymore! You can go for a waterproof digital watch. Like I said, men do not have many options when it comes to accessories. Men must always sport a stylish watch. The material of the strap should be either rubber or plastic as these materials are ideal for this season.

Bag
Do not carry a leather bag as the rains will ruin it. Go for a stylish waterproof laptop bag. It is ideal to store your documents, laptop and other essentials. Invest in a good quality bag as it will protect your belongings from the heavy showers. A good bag is not just a must have for women but for men too.

Shorts
On weekends, it is best to wear a pair of shorts. Avoid those baggy cargos. Go for stylish shorts that fit well and rest above the knee. Go for solid colours with no print or design on it.

Men’s All Time Monsoon Fashion Mistakes

How many times has it happened with you that you are about to leave from your home and it starts raining? Yes, most people relate to this situation during monsoons. You get completely drenched and as you are in your all time favourite denims, moving around with that wet pair gets all the more difficult. The fabric of the denims gets heavy once it is wet and takes ages to dry. The worst part is that the day has just started and you have to spend the entire day wearing those denims. The next thought that comes to your mind is that how you wish you had worn shorts or trousers that day. Hence wearing denims on a rainy day is a big no-no. This is one of the most common fashion mistakes men make during monsoons. You need to be careful before you choose your outfits during this season as the wrong choice could end up making you feel uncomfortable all day.

Monsoon is here and so you need to be prepared to face heavy and light showers anytime during the day. Monsoon fashion means being careful about what you pick and yet looking stylish. The trick is to wear the right colours and trends that suit the season. If you are amongst those who don’t think twice before choosing outfits during monsoon, here is a short guide of fashion mistakes to avoid during monsoon season.

Drenched denims- You are not a movie star!
Girls may find Shahrukh Khan smoking hot in this song but you won’t look that hot with your drenched pair of jeans on a rainy day. Your jeans will start getting heavy and drop down when it gets wet, thanks to the fabric! Movie stars look perfect with all the possible photoshop tricks. You will not have that benefit. You may end up exposing the unwanted areas of your body. You will have to pull up your denims time and again which is not a pleasant sight. Instead of denims, you can go for trousers and chinos. The fabric in these outfits is extremely light and thin. The best part about chinos and trousers is that they dry pretty fast. On casual outings, you can wear a pair of smart shorts. Even 3/4ths are okay as they will not touch the ground.

Flip-flops? NO!
Don’t even think of moving out with those noisy flip flops. And also, your leather shoes! Pack them properly and stack them in your closet. You don’t need them now. Wearing flip flops or anything fancy can ruin your image within minutes. There are a lot of monsoon friendly footwear to consider. A pair of sneakers or waterproof boots will do the trick.

No white. You know why
We understand your obsession with crisp white shirts but avoid wearing them during the monsoon season. Not just shirts, don’t wear anything that remotely looks white. White fabrics rank first when it comes to attracting dirt. Stay away from all kinds of whites. It is the best time to play with colours. Monsoon is about bright colours.

Avoid these monsoon fashion mistakes and get ready to look stylish.

Chinos Style Guide

We all love jeans. Think of casual wear and the first thing that comes to your mind is a stylish pair of denims. Have you wondered what apart from a pair of jeans could go well with your shirts and t-shirts? Wait a minute, the era of jeans is not coming to an end. The idea is to have a versatile in wardrobe. For men, trends have come and gone but what has always stayed back is a pair of classic denim jeans. A pair of stylish jeans looks great with a crisp white shirt but it has a limitation too. No matter how superb your jeans look, you will avoid wearing it at weddings and formal occasions. Jeans was, is and will always remain casual. Men’s fashion has evolved and you need to move forward from the t-shirt or shirt with jeans look.

So what’s next? It is a pair of coloured chinos. Of late, style conscious men are seen wearing chinos more than denims. The very obvious reason is change. We all love variety when it comes to style. A pair of smart chinos can be worn with a polo t-shirt on a casual outing and with a dress shirt at an office party as well.
After wearing denims for over two decades, men have welcomed chinos with open arms. Chinos are an answer to those who thought jeans is the only piece of clothing available to go casual.

Bollywood has played a major role in introducing style trends. Chinos made an official comeback on the silver screen with the movie Rowdy Rathore. Akshay Kumar wore all sorts of coloured chinos throughout the movie.
The first reason was change and the second reason is the comfort. Chinos are way more comfortable than a pair of denims. Most men did not find it difficult to switch to chinos over denims considering the comfort factor. Chinos are a boon especially during the hot months of summer. Chinos are made of lighter fabrics like cotton. They are cool, casual and comfortable. You can team your chinos with a pair of smart loafer shoes.

When it comes to colours, you can go for beige coloured chinos as it will looks good with everything. Other cool options are light grey, navy blue and brown. The best part about these colours is that they are so versatile. Most of your t-shirts and casual shirts would look good with these colours.
Be it the shopping malls or your online shopping sites, the chinos are getting extremely popular.

There is nothing as comfortable as being bare legged on a hot sunny day. Most men make blunders when it comes to picking the right pair of shorts. One must pick the right pair based on the occasion. -          When you are buying a pair of shorts, pay attention to the fitting. Choose a fit that suits your body type. If you are skinny, go for slim fit shorts as they will compliment your body type. If you are moderately built, go for the regular fit. Avoid long baggy shorts and poor fit shorts at all costs.
-          Shorts may be a piece of casual clothing but you are not allowed to take it for granted by picking loud colours. Go for pastel and neutral shades with minimal design. The print or texture of your shorts must be extremely subtle. Team it up with a smart white polo t-shirts and loafer shoes for the perfect casual look.
-          Most men are quite hesitant when it comes to wearing shorts. You must go for the right length (i.e. just above the knee) and a good fit. That’s all! There is nothing to feel shy about.
-          The common fashion mistake is to wear cargo shorts, board shots and short shorts. A smart pair of tailored shorts is what you need. You can also get your trousers altered.
-          When it comes to office wear, most places do not allow shorts but then there are places like advertising agencies which allow casual dressing. You can wear a pair of shorts with any solid colour of your choice. Avoid prints and designs in a workplace setting.

T-shirt- Styling Guide- Neck Styles and Fabrics

T-shirts, no matter how they are, will be a staple piece of clothing in your wardrobe. T-shirts are mostly available in pure cotton and semi cotton fabrics which make them easier to maintain. Buying a t-shirt can get pretty complicated at times. You have to decide on factors like fit, style, fabric, neck type, colour etc. before actually buying one. With so many variations involved, men end up wearing the wrong t-shirt for a occasion.

It is all about style and men need to get serious about it. It is time to take a few tough decisions. Firstly give up on the brand that does not sell a particular type of t-shirts that suit you. Wearing the right style of t-shirt is the first rule. Now you must be wondering what style will actually suit you. Read on to find out.

Neck styles to consider
Crew neck or v-neck or polo t-shirt, all these are the classic options available and any style is worth considering. If you are short height, go for v-neck t-shirts as they elongate your neck area and make you look a bit taller than your actual height. They also help you to balance the look if you have a round face. If you have a slim physique, a crew neck t-shirt is what you need. Crew neck t-shirts can make you look a bit broader. The best thing to do is to stick to the styles that have suited you best in the past. Do not try to experiment unless necessary. You may go wrong and then there is no looking back. You can also go for a Henley t-shirt. These tees are really picking up these days. You may have seen John Abraham wearing a Henley t-shirt on multiple occasions lately. He has an amazing physique and Henley t-shirt helps him flaunt it really well.

Fabrics
Most men tend to buy t-shirts with a thicker fabric; though this has nothing to do with the climatic conditions. Men have a habit of associating the weight of fabric with the quality. Heavier the fabric, better the quality! Here is a myth breaker for all those who thought this way. In case of t-shirts, lighter the fabric, better it is. You are wearing a t-shirt for the comfort that it offers and while choosing the fabric you pick on a heavy one. What’s the point, then? Go for a fabric that is light in weight as you are going to wear it all day. A good quality thin fabric can make you feel slim, light and cool.

T-shirt Styling Basics

When it comes to casual wear, nothing works better than a t-shirt and a pair of jeans. A smart t-shirt worn with a stylish pair of denim jeans is the perfect casual look. Everything else falls in place when the look is right. T-shirts have become an integral part of a man’s wardrobe. Earlier people wore t-shirts as the undergarment and today it has become the stylish element of the wardrobe. It is hard to find someone who has never worn a t-shirt. And why not! T-shirts offer a superior level of comfort level unlike any other piece of casual clothing. It is the most versatile piece of clothing. For instance, you can wear a t-shirt along with a blazer, a jacket, a shirt or just plain. You may not realise that there are so many looks you can create with your existing collection of t-shirts. Here is a guide which will help you out to build a simple yet impressive collection of t-shirts.

Do they fit?
This is the first question you should ask yourself when you look at your collection of tees. Do they fit? If the answer is a no, even for a single tee, just get rid of it. Nobody likes a poor fit. A poor fitted t-shirts just spoils your image instantly. It tells the world that you don’t care about yourself. The shoulders, the sleeves, everything needs to fall at the right place. The t-shirts with perfect fitting compliment your physique effortlessly. Achieve the right with the following rules. If you love to flaunt your arms, just a couple of folds and you are good to go. Your t-shirt should comfortably fit the shoulder area. If you have a slim waist, look for t-shirts with a tapered cut so that it does not highlight the area you don’t want to show. A good t-shirt should end where the hips start. The sleeves should not cover your entire arm. Go for a regular fit.

Colours
With all due respect to your choice, opt for basic colours first when you plan to revamp your wardrobe. For those who do not know, the basic colours are black, white, grey and navy blue.
A white t-shirt is just perfect. Nothing is better than a white t-shirt on a hot sunny day. Team it up with a pair of cobalt blue denim jeans and you are good to go. White t-shirts look good on people with all types of skin tones. If it’s a grey, just pick any shade and it will suit you. Grey looks best on people who have a good physique, no offence to all the others. Black, need we say more. Any wardrobe on this earth is incomplete without a bunch of black t-shirts. Just avoid black when it is too hot outside. That’s the only season when we don’t miss black. And, here comes my favourite-navy blue. The best part about a navy blue t-shirt is that it looks as smart as black and it can be worn on both formal and casual occasions. These were the basics; however you can also experiment with other colours preferably on weekends unless you work for creative agencies. T-shirt is the only outfit which allows you to experiment with colours, make the most of it!

Trousers- Shoes-Socks- Matching Guide

Dressing up is such a simple task but it also gets complicated at times. Getting the simple things right is so annoying. When you are running late, it is the tie that just won’t fit properly or sometimes the cuff button won’t get buttoned properly. Sometimes even such things bother us and we tend to lose patience.
I was invited to a wedding reception last week. I was standing in front of my wardrobe looking for the right combination. That’s when I realised matching trousers with shoes is such a tedious task. Which colours will perfectly match was the big question. I was all set in mind of what clothes I was going to wear- a black shirt, a pair of dark green coloured trousers. I was completely puzzled when it came to wearing the matching shoes and socks along with my attire. I was wondering if I am the only one or do other people also struggle with the selection. This is when I thought of writing this article on how to match your attire with your footwear, more specifically on how to match your trousers with your socks and shoes. Now this could be for any occasion- a business meeting, a family gathering or just regular working hours. This article will put an end to most of your basic fashion dilemmas.

Matching socks with trousers
Let’s start from the first element after you have dressed up. I am sure most people are pretty clear with matching their trousers with shirts. So I will just move ahead and start with socks. The first and foremost rule of matching your socks with your trousers is that your socks should exactly match the colour of your trouser or should be darker than your trousers. For instance, navy blue socks will match with your blue trousers and charcoal grey socks will match with your steel grey trousers. This rule changes when it comes to brown. The colour brown includes all your khaki, beige and tans. In this scenario, your socks should be a shade darker than your shoes. If you are planning to wear a strip or checkered socks, avoid picking a print that is too loud. Match the base colour of your sock with the trousers.

Matching shoes with trousers
In a regular scenario, your shoes and your pair of trousers will be visible. The only time people can see your socks is when you are seated. Matching your shoes with the trousers and not vice versa is the right thing to do. Here are some common colour combinations to help you out. A pair of blue trousers will match well with both black and brown shoes. And the same logic is applied for the pair of grey trousers. With a pair of brown trousers, it is much easier; you can stick to brown shoes and nothing else. Black trousers go well with black shoes or even tan shoes for a bolder look.

If you are buying a pair of trousers online or shoes for that matter, check the colour and size properly before placing an order. The perfect fit is the first and foremost rule of fashion. No matter how great your combination is, a poor fit can spoil it all. Look for the size chart and order it as per your size.
